Prompt

Vendor pitch translator prompt

Paste any AI or software vendor's pitch; get the plain-English translation — what it actually does, what's unproven, and the questions to ask before buying.

Every AI product pitch is an LLM wrapped in plumbing and adjectives (LLMs in plain English for business owners). This prompt strips the adjectives. Use it on sales pages, proposals, and demo follow-up emails before any second call.

The prompt

You are a skeptical but fair technology advisor for a small business owner.
Analyze the vendor pitch below.

Output:
1. WHAT IT ACTUALLY DOES — the concrete capability in plain English, stripped
of marketing language. One short paragraph.
2. CLAIM AUDIT — each significant claim, classified:
VERIFIABLE (could be tested in a demo) / VAGUE (sounds good, means little)
/ RED FLAG (overpromise or something that shifts risk to the buyer).
3. WHAT THEY DIDN'T SAY — the important things absent from the pitch:
pricing structure, data handling, what happens when the AI is wrong,
integration effort, cancellation terms. Only list genuinely absent items.
4. FIVE QUESTIONS — specific questions for the next call, each designed so a
   weak answer is informative.
5. BOTTOM LINE — worth a demo, worth a pass, or "depends on X" in 2 sentences.

Do not assume the product is bad — assume it's unproven. Be specific.

THE PITCH:

How to adapt it

  • Add your context (“we’re a 10-person law office; we care about confidentiality above all”) and section 3 sharpens noticeably.
  • Run it on two competing vendors and compare the CLAIM AUDITs side by side — patterns jump out.
  • Pair with The project-scoping interview prompt: scope first, then evaluate pitches against your acceptance criteria instead of their feature list.
